Guitar led swing invites obvious comparisons with Django Reinhardt, especially when the performer is a Frenchman, but Benoit Viellefon is a man with his own voice: accordion infuses a latin tune with the scent of Bal-musette, muted trumpet gives a flash of jazz modernity, and then his relaxed vocals joust with clarinet obbligatos in a way that invites me to descend into cliché and start talking about the Seine, so I’ll just shut up and suggest you go and see this incredibly accomplished musician…
